Get Covered New Jersey – NJ’s Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment

9 in 10 people qualify for financial help!

Open Enrollment for 2022 health insurance coverage through Get Covered New Jersey,  NJ’s Health Insurance Marketplace, is here with BIG savings and MORE choices! Open Enrollment happens once a year, from November 1 to January 31.  If you want coverage to begin January 1, you must enroll by December 31, 2021. If you enroll in January 2022, coverage will begin February 1.

The Open Enrollment period is typically the only time you can enroll in coverage for the NJ Health Insurance Marketplace unless you have a qualifying life event. Certain events such as pregnancy, having a baby, or adoption qualify residents for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to enroll in coverage outside of Open Enrollment. SEPs also allow current enrollees to make plan changes.

Get Covered New Jersey offers financial help to qualifying residents to help lower their monthly premiums and out-of-pocket expenses. Due to the American Rescue Plan Act, Get Covered New Jersey customers are now eligible for expanded financial help for all income levels. The State of New Jersey is also providing additional savings. This means more people qualify for more financial help.

NJ FamilyCare (MediCaid)

You can apply to NJ FamilyCare, the state’s publicly funded health insurance program, year-round. There is no limited enrollment period for NJ FamilyCare. However, denial from NJ FamilyCare is not considered a qualifying life event for Get Covered NJ coverage if the application was submitted outside of open enrollment. If you are enrolled in NJ FamilyCare, and lose that coverage because you become ineligible, then you can enroll in Get Covered NJ with financial help. Losing other coverage counts as a qualifying life event to enroll outside of the Open Enrollment period.
