Zufall Health was honored to welcome U.S. Senator Andy Kim to its Bridgewater facility, part of Somerset County’s Richard Hall Community Health & Wellness Center, on Saturday, July 19. With National Health Center Week (August 3 – 9) approaching, Senator Kim’s visit offered a timely and meaningful opportunity to share the vital role health centers play in the lives of so many.

During his visit, Senator Kim met with Zufall leadership and providers, including Chief Medical Officer Rina Ramirez, MD; Chief Operating Officer Annette Gonzalez, DHA, MPA; Senior Vice President of External Affairs David Woods; Clinical Director and Internal Medicine Physician Lilian Zorrilla, MD; Podiatrist Henrietta Obidigbo, DPM; and Family Nurse Practitioner Danielle Starling, FNP-BC.

The Senator also spent time with Vanessa, a Somerset County mother of four accompanying her 17-year-old son, Greynor, to his appointment. Vanessa said her husband’s work isn’t always steady, which sometimes means the family goes without insurance. She expressed deep appreciation for Zufall’s consistent, affordable care that supports her family regardless of their financial or insurance status.

On-duty providers Podiatrist Henrietta Obidigbo, DPM, and Family Nurse Practitioner Danielle Starling, FNP-BC, also met with the Senator.

Reflecting on the visit, Senator Kim said, “I believe a healthier New Jersey is a stronger New Jersey, and supporting access to health care is a critical component of treating all of us, including the most vulnerable, with the dignity and decency we all deserve.” 

Zufall Health extends sincere thanks to Senator Kim, not only for taking the time to visit and listen, but for his vocal advocacy on behalf of Zufall’s 52,000 patients and the 32.5 million people nationwide who rely on community health centers. At a time of unprecedented policy challenges—including looming Medicaid cuts expected to affect 350,000 New Jersey residents—Senator Kim’s leadership is not only appreciated, but urgently needed.
