In November, Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill announced a transition plan designed to help her administration “hit the ground running” on its early priorities, including affordability, transportation, and job creation. The first phase includes the formation of ten policy action teams led by distinguished experts from New Jersey and across the country.

Among those selected is Eva Turbiner, Zufall Health Foundation Trustee and former President and CEO of Zufall Health. Turbiner will serve on Sherrill’s “Affordable Healthcare: Addressing Washington’s Medicaid Cuts” team. The group will develop strategies to expand access to high-quality, affordable health care for New Jersey residents and address potential impacts of federal policies that could weaken the state’s health care safety net.

Turbiner’s decades of health care leadership experience, including 17 years as Zufall’s CEO, positions her to provide valuable insight on health care access as the incoming administration charts its next steps.

Relationships with elected officials across the political spectrum and at all levels of government remain essential to Zufall’s continued ability to meet patient needs. Since 2019, Turbiner and her successor, current CEO Fran Palm, have maintained a strong working relationship with Sherrill, who most recently served as the congressional representative for New Jersey’s 11^th district. Their ongoing collaboration reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to care for underserved populations and strengthening the systems that support them.
