Mental Health Support During Pregnancy & Parenthood

The perinatal period, pregnancy through the first year after a baby arrives, is filled with change. While it can be an exciting time, it can also bring feelings of stress, worry, sadness, shame, guilt, anger, or detachment.
These emotional ups and downs are common. Research shows that 1 in 5 women and 1 in 10 men experience depression or anxiety during the perinatal period. Mental health challenges can affect anyone welcoming a child, including birthing parents, partners, siblings, adoptive and foster parents, families growing through surrogacy, and those experiencing pregnancy loss.
Even if you feel fine, this is a great time to connect with Zufall’s Behavioral Health Services. Sometimes just one visit can help you prepare for the changes ahead, while ongoing counseling can provide extra support as your family grows. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as taking care of your physical health.
Also, M-WRAP (The Maternal Wraparound Program) provides confidential and judgment-free case management and peer recovery support services to residents of Morris, Sussex, and Warren counties who are pregnant or up to one year postpartum and are using or have recently used alcohol or drugs (including prescription narcotics). M-WRAP helps connect families with care, resources, education, and services to support both parent and baby.
