Zufall Health’s Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS) program partnered with The Center for Great Expectations (CGE) to host the first “Paint for Prevention” event, which was held during CGE’s “Family Night” on October 18th. In attendance were CGE staff, CGE clients and their family members.

“Paint for Prevention” reinforced concepts learned by CGE clients earlier in the year in the Safe Dates Curriculum, a 10-week course exploring components of healthy relationships. The event began with a brainstorming session and open discussion facilitated by Arianna Cohen, SASS Prevention Coordinator, on the characteristics of healthy relationships. These characteristics were then incorporated into the group’s paintings. Tiffany Bradford, owner of Picasso Play Dates, guided the painting session for the evening.

All participants kept their paintings as a way of sustaining the message of healthy relationships. They were also provided with community resources that support people experiencing dating/sexual violence. This event was funded by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families – Division of Women.
