Ways You Can Support Us

Your donation—large or small—has the power to transform lives by helping us provide critically needed health services that can make an enormous impact in your own community.

Gifts that can help us TODAY:

Charitable gifts of cash are eligible for tax deductions, provided you itemize your return and they are made to an IRS-recognized 501(c)3 organization, like Zufall Health Foundation. The process of making a cash gift is as simple as using the online form to the left, or writing a check made payable to the Zufall Health Foundation and mailing it to Zufall Health, Development Department (2nd Floor), 18 W. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801)

A pledge donation is a formal commitment to give a specific amount of money to a Zufall Health Foundation over a specified time period, rather than an immediate, one-time payment. While the promise is made today, the funds from the pledge are paid out later, allowing for greater financial planning for our organization and potentially larger commitments from donors spread over time.

A recurring gift donation is a commitment from a supporter to give a predetermined amount of money to Zufall Health Foundation on a regular, ongoing basis, such as monthly, quarterly, or annually. These recurring contributions provide stable and predictable funding for our organization and allow our donors to support us in manageable increments. These donations are typically processed automatically via secure online credit card or bank transfer, making it a convenient way for our donors to provide consistent support.

Your company may support charities through a Matching Gift program. Contact your Human Resources Office to learn more about a matching gift.

Donating appreciated securities offers several benefits, including eliminating capital gains tax that you would pay if you sold the stock yourself. This allows Zufall Health Foundation, which is tax-exempt, to sell the shares at their full value. You can typically deduct the full fair market value of securities held for over a year on your itemized tax return, subject to limits. This approach also increases the impact of your gift, helps rebalance your portfolio, and preserves your cash reserves.

A qualified IRA distribution is a withdrawal that meets specific IRS requirements, allowing for it to be free of the 10% early withdrawal penalty. These criteria generally include reaching age 59½ or a qualifying exception like disability or becoming a beneficiary after the owner’s death. A specific type is a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD), where IRA owners aged 70½ or older can directly donate to charity, avoiding both the tax and penalty.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle that allows you to make an irrevocable, tax-deductible contribution of assets, such as cash or stock, to a sponsoring organization, like a community foundation or financial institution. The DAF then grows with tax-free investment earnings, and you can recommend grants from the fund to Zufall Health Foundation over time. DAFs are a popular and tax-savvy way to support causes you care about, offering immediate tax benefits while providing flexibility to decide when and where to distribute the funds.

Planned Legacy Gifts That Can Make a Lasting Impact In the FUTURE:

This is the most common and accessible type of planned gift, involving a gift from a donor’s estate via their will or trust. Donors can specify a dollar amount, a percentage of their estate, or the remainder of the estate, after other gifts have been made, directly to Zufall Health Foundation.

Donors can name Zufall Health Foundation as a beneficiary for all or part of their retirement funds (like IRAs or 401(k)s), providing a tax-smart way to make a significant gift.

Similar to retirement plans, donors can name Zufall Health Foundation as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, allowing for a substantial future gift.

A donor gives a large asset (cash or securities) to Zufall Health Foundation and receives a fixed income stream for life in return. After the lifetime(s) of the beneficiary(ies), the remainder of the gift supports the Zufall Health Foundation ‘s mission.

Donors transfer assets into a trust and receive a percentage of the principal as an income stream for a period, with the remaining assets going to Zufall Health Foundation afterward.

(Note: With any Planned Gift, Zufall strongly encourages our donors to first consult with their attorney or financial planner to determine what kind of gift may work best for situation.)
