Accolades in Access: Patients Gain Two New Pathways to Good Health

Since its origins as a single exam room, Zufall Health has grown into one of the region’s leading providers of affordable health care. Thirty-five years later, its services continue to expand to meet rising demand.

In September, Zufall unveiled its new Mobile Medical unit with BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), the vehicle’s lead financial supporter. This doctor’s office on wheels will replace Zufall’s 16-year-old Highlands Health Van. Read more.

Last month, Zufall and partners celebrated the new dental suite in Somerville. In addition to strengthening local access, the expansion ensures integrated dental care is available at all Zufall medical sites. Read more.

Physician Assistant Vito Zuna, PA-C’s background helped him connect with Zufall’s patients during his graduate school clinical rotation nearly a decade ago. Turbiner, who also serves on Zufall Health Foundation’s Board of Trustees, will join the Governor-elect’s Affordable Health Care policy action team. The group will develop strategies to expand access to high-quality, affordable health care for New Jersey residents. Read more.

Rina Ramirez, MD, Co-Authors Paper on Value of Philanthropic Support for Whole-Person Diabetes Care

Chief Medical Officer Rina Ramirez, MD, appears in this month’s edition of Dialogues in Health, a public health journal. She highlights how philanthropic funding can improve diabetes care when paired with support for social needs. The piece focuses on the Helping Build Healthy Communities grant from Direct Relief and BD, awarded in 2020 to Zufall and five additional health centers. Read more.

Zufall and Partners Collaborate on Unsheltered Homelessness in Sussex County

The NJ Department of Community Affairs and nonprofit partners, including Zufall, report early, encouraging progress from their 90-day Homelessness Resolution Sprint in Newton, launched in October. Zufall’s role in the collaborative is to help participants establish medical care — a basic need long unmet for those without stable housing.  Read more.
