2023 Construction Activity to Improve Patient Experience

Zufall Health’s ability to deliver high-quality health care to our 42,000 patients will be enhanced during the coming year through the completion of a number of new construction, renovation, and expansion projects.

“The mid-year opening of our new West Orange site and improvements at our existing facilities will better serve our current patients and accommodate future growth,” explained Eva Turbiner, Zufall’s president and chief executive officer.

Replacing our modest West Orange office on Northfield Avenue, the new, three-story, state-off-the art building at 49 Mount Pleasant Avenue will contain eight medical exam rooms, six dental operatories, and areas designated for behavioral health, laboratory services, patient support and education services, and wellness activities. The above photo shows our progress as of early December.

In addition, significant construction has already begun or is scheduled at sites in Dover, Morristown, Somerville, and Plainsboro. Improvements include:

  • Dover Medical: The reception and intake areas will be updated and the flooring will be replaced in the lower level and the first-floor reception area.
  • Morristown: Renovation of the building’s second and third stories will expand capacity and improve privacy, safety, and storage. The project will add consultation rooms for providers to conduct telemedicine visits as well as new storage space for clinical supplies. Medical and dental exam rooms will also be refurbished to create airborne infection-isolation rooms and the HVAC system will be upgraded.
  • Somerville: Dental services that have only been available to Somerville patients on our dental van will soon be offered in our new suite of dental operatories. The renovation will also add two airborne infection-isolation rooms and new bathrooms as well as a reconfiguration of the office/program/ meeting space and several improvements to the infrastructure of the outdoor area.
  • Plainsboro: The build-out of a new dental suite will make dental services available at the site in 2023.

“We’re really excited by all this activity that will enhance and optimize our space,” said Turbiner. “These projects will impact not just our efficiency, but help improve engagement and satisfaction for both patients and our care team.”
