NJBIZ honors Eva Turbiner as one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business

Dover, N.J. (March 22, 2017) — Eva Turbiner, president and chief executive officer of Zufall Health, has been named one of the 2017 Best 50 Women in Business by NJBIZ, the state’s leading business news publication. The awards program honors New Jersey’s most dynamic business women who have been making headlines in their industries.

Turbiner has been recognized for her contributions in the health care field leading Zufall Health, a nonprofit community health center that provides quality, affordable health care to the underserved populations in six counties across north and central New Jersey. During her ten-year tenure, she has implemented an innovative program incorporating continuous quality improvement, corporate growth, and program expansion which has enhanced access to medical and dental services and improved health outcomes for tens of thousands of the state’s most vulnerable residents. Her success has won both her and the health center local, statewide, and national recognition.

An independent panel of judges selected the top 50 winners based on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community involvement, and advocacy for women. All the award recipients were recognized during a ceremony March 20 at The Palace at Somerset in Somerset.

NJ Colorectal Cancer Stakeholders Discuss National Screening Goal

On March 2, representatives from NJ Community Health Centers attended the NJ Colorectal Cancer Stakeholders Meeting. The meeting was organized by the American Cancer Society and held at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick.  Representing Zufall Health was Dr. Rina Ramirez (far left), Chief Medical Officer, and Frances Palm (far right), Chief Operating Officer. The diverse group of participants discussed ways to reach the national goal of screening 80% of people ages 50-74 for colon cancer by 2018.  Zufall Health has signed the “80% By 2018 Pledge” and is working in partnership with patients to reach this important goal.

New Zufall Health art exhibit celebrates “Color”

Dover, N.J. (Feb. 21, 2017) Zufall Health will debut its Spring Art Exhibit at a free reception open to the public on Friday March 3rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its headquarters building at 18 West Blackwell Street in Dover. The exhibit, featuring the work of both professional and amateur artists, is composed of art showcasing the theme “The Power of Color”.

The event will also feature light refreshments donated by local eateries and music provided by guitarist Malcolm Hazel.

The art is represented in painting, drawing, photography, and collage and will be displayed until the end of June  throughout the public and clinical spaces of the health center’s landmark headquarters building.

Cervical Cancer Is Preventable, Treatable with Screenings and Immunizations

SOMERVILLE – January is Cervical Health Awareness Month! The Somerset County Board of Freeholders and the Morris-Somerset Regional Chronic Disease Coalition (RCDC) and its partners are urging women of all income levels to take advantage of life-saving screenings, immunizations and tests, and to become informed about prevention and early detection options, which decrease risk for infections and cervical cancer. Somerville, NJ ( November 2, 2016) Fulton Bank of New Jersey has teamed with Zufall Health, a community health center operating in north and central New Jersey, to help combat childhood obesity. The Mount Laurel-based financial institution is this year underwriting Andale, an innovative program created by Zufall that empowers children and parents to make healthy lifestyle choices. Read more

(October 24, 2016) Zufall Health Center’s national achievements in quality improvement were recently recognized by the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders. The health center’s high level of performance was cited by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services in six categories including designation as one of only four New Jersey National Quality Leaders. The recognition was accompanied by federal funding to help Zufall build on its success providing high-quality, comprehensive care in six New Jersey counties.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Kickoff Stresses Importance of Early Detection

On October 6th, Zufall Health, the Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Regional Chronic Disease Coalition joined together with community members on the steps of the Somerset County Historic Court House to hold the 13th Annual Shades of Pink Celebration proclaiming October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All participants were encouraged to wear something pink in recognition of people affected by breast cancer.

Mobile Health and Dental Clinic Plans Stops in Phillipsburg

Health Center Provides Affordable Care in Newton

Newton, NJ (July 18, 2016)– Zufall Health Services has opened a community health care center in Newton to serve “those with low income, on Medicaid, Medicare and New Jersey Family Care, those who are uninsured, those with language barriers, and those with transportation issues.”

Zufall Health President and CEO Eva Turbiner said the facility, located in the building at 238 Spring St. that formerly housed the defunct Neighborhood Health Services, offers comprehensive services including adult and pediatric medicine, dental care, women’s health, cancer screening, podiatry, HIV care, neurology, and behavioral health and clinical pharmacy counseling. Zufall Health Offers Vets No-Cost Dental Services

(June 6, 2016) Zufall Health, a nonprofit community health center, will hold a three-day Vets Summer Smiles Day event June 27-29 to offer Warren and Sussex County veterans dental exams and treatment services at no out-of-pocket cost to them. The event, open to both new and current Zufall patients, will take place at Zufall offices in Hackettstown, Newton, and Dover. Read more…

Somerville, N.J. (May 23, 2016) More than 100 volunteers who give their time, talents, and energy to Zufall Health were honored recently at a Volunteer Appreciation event at the Bridgewater Marriott Hotel. The volunteers provide a wide range of supportive services at the nonprofit community health center which offers affordable medical and dental care to patients in six New Jersey counties. Zufall Health’s Chief Dental Officer Makes Appearance on Caucus: New Jersey

(May 5, 2016) In this episode of Caucus: New Jersey, some of the state’s oral health leaders convened to discuss pressing issues on the topic, “Access to Oral Health Care: Meeting the Challenge.” Panelists include Dr. Sam Wakim, Chief Dental Officer at Zufall Community Health Centers; Dr. Nicole McGrath, Founder, President & CEO, Kindersmile Foundation; Dr. Mary Voytus, Director, Dental Residency, Mountainside Hospital; and pediatric dentist Dr. Mario Ramos, Assistant Director, Boys and Girls Club in Newark’s Children’s Dental Center. Delta Dental of New Jersey is proud to have helped coordinate this programming.
 

Students play charity dodge ball for Zufall Health

Two dozen Seton Hall Prep student teams faced off in the school’s 5th Annual Dodge Ball Tournament to raise money for a local health center. The event, sponsored by the  Student Council, raised more than $1000 for the West Orange office of Zufall Health Center which provides affordable medical and dental care to the underserved. In a tense final match-up, the M6 team defeated Justice League, the defending champions. The donated funds will help support Zufall’s new dental office.

Morristown, N.J. (August 10, 2015) Zufall Health celebrated National Health Center Week with a ribbon cutting at its newly expanded Morristown site at 4 Atno Avenue. The expansion increases the medical space from four to six examination rooms and now provides a separated dental office that increases capacity from two to four operatories. The office also now accommodates behavioral health services. Several federal, state, and local dignitaries attended the event. (July 1, 2015) In support of the annual Janssen Cares Volunteer Days community service program, energetic and willing employees from Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Raritan spent the day working to beautify the exterior landscaping at the entrance of Zufall Health, 71 Fourth Street, Somerville.

Zufall Health, a community health center operating seven sites in northern and central New Jersey, has been recognized as a National Quality Leader by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Zufall Health has opened a new office at 95 Northfield Avenue in West Orange to provide quality, affordable medical care for every family member from newborns to seniors. The new site is the first Essex County location for Zufall which has been operating in North Jersey for nearly 25 years. Read more
