In April 1990, with little seed money and a few volunteers, Dr. Robert Zufall and his wife, Kathryn, opened a small community clinic in Dover. Once a week, the retired urologist treated patients while his wife provided administrative support. Almost instantly, the clinic attracted a growing patient base of poor Latino and Asian families. Its popularity necessitated two moves and expanded hours that allowed the Zufalls and a dedicated team of volunteers to provide a full spectrum of services. The private, not-for-profit clinic’s survival was assured in 2004 by its designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center.
Renamed to honor the Zufalls, our organization is carrying on their commitment. As Your Medical Home, we are a primary care safety net to vulnerable patients offering routine check-ups, immunizations, screenings, and more.
To meet the surging demand for affordable, quality health care, we are extending our reach. Our new facility in Morristown focuses on public housing residents and the homeless while our eco-friendly mobile medical unit – the first of its kind in the nation – serves residents of rural communities in Sussex, Hunterdon, and Warren counties, especially those working in agriculture.
